Clontarf Orphanage Ball.
THE annual ball in aid of the Clontaif
?7 Orplianage took place last night at the
Y.A.L. Hall. There was a good attendance,
and everything combined to make the
iimction a success. JU'.ss Uoreen D Arcy s
orchestra supplied the music, and the
supper (which was donated) was served
m the gymnasium on tables decked with
English marigolds, jonquils, pointsettias.

The committee to whom the success of
the ball was due included Mesdamcs J.
fillips and Hannan (organisers), E. T.
lussell, Williamson. McGann, A. Davies,
McGrath. Felton. Dominish. Lewis, Hen
derson, Fogarty. Connolly, and Yuille, and
Miss Coffey. The Coadjutor Archbishop
(Dr. PrendiviJle) was unable to be pre
sent, owing to being out of town. The
Administrator (Eev. Father Kelly) was
present, and the Very Kev. Father Brown,
also Fathers Winston, Fanning, Crowley,
arid Pace.
Many attractive frocks were noticed
among the dancers. Mrs. J. Phillips wore
a frock of black georgette and lace;, Mrs.
Williamson, black and white- patterned
chenille georgette; Mrs. Walter Dwyer,
black ring velvet; Mrs. Dan Mulcahy,
flame sand crepe; Mrs. Moss, black ribpul-,

League will hold their fifth annual ball at
the x .A.L. Hall on Thursday, July 19, from
8.30 to 1 o'clock.

Gargoyle Social Club, will hold its annual
ball at tne Embassy Cabaret on Friday,
July 27, from 8.30 to 1.30 o'clock.
Tennis Club Dance,
The King's Park Tennis Club held
another of its enjoyable dances last night
at the pavilion which was artistically ar
ranged with palms, and a cosy log fire
added to the attractiveness of the1 scene.
Ron Moyles orchestra supplied the music
and supper made a pleasant interlude in
the dancing. The committee responsible for
the dance arrangements included Messrs.
Basil Bruce (vice-president of the club),
Frank. Grove, Karl Knapp, W. Groves,
Jim Nathan, and Bay Truscott.

The Victoria Square Old Collegians'
twelfth annual ball' will be held at the
Karrakatta Club Hall tonight at 8.30
o'clock. ' ?
The second annual Scout Ball under the
auspices 'of the 23rd Group, will take place
tomorrow at the Alexandra Hall; Buckland
Hill. ^ ^ .?„??.
Nelson Trio Entertained.
The Nelson Trio, Misses Anna, Ida, and
Sara 'Nelson, the three talented young
musicians at present in Perth broadcasting
from 6WF, were entertained at a morning
tea party by members of the Women
Writers' Club yesterday at the Green Gate
tearooms. It was just an informal tea and
.talk party and a pleasant hour was spent
in attractive surroundings. Tea was served
on tables dainty with small bowls of
autumn tinted flowers and foliage and ar
tistically colourful table appointments.
After tea the guests were taken for a motor
drive around South Perth, by Mrs. A. E.
Joyner. Among those present were: —
Mesdames A. E. Joyner, E. E. Chase,
Southern, Eggleston; Misses M. Smith,
Main, Betty Smith, Noel White, and Fer
guson.
Miss Vida Cunnington, of Walebing, has
returned to her home after a short visit
to Perth.
Miss Buchanan, of Cottesloe, will leave
today by the Westralia on a combined
business and health trip to the Eastern
States.
Barnett Bros. Dance.
Barnett Bros. Social Club arranged an
enjoyable cabaret at the Piccadilly ball
room last Friday evening, when a large
crowd danced to music supplied by Ron
Moyle's orchestra. The committee respon
sible for the arrangements included: —

An enjoyable party was given by Mrs.
Girdlestone at her home at Gosnells on
Monday afternoon. The lounge where
bridge was played was arranged with
wattle blossom and African marigolds. In
a short interval in the play tea was en
joyed in the- dining room on a yellow and
cream rose-decked table. Prizes were won
by Mrs. Hocking and Mies M. Farquhar.
