MEAT EXPORT.
WEST AUSTRALIAN QUOTA;
Increase Expected if Required.
It was stated yesterday by Mr. J. J.
Farrell, the manager of the Wyndham
Meat Works... who represented the West
Australian Government at the interstate
meat conference in Melbourne which de
termined the State export quotas for this
year, that he had lodged an emphatic
protest with the Department of Com
merce against the small mutton and lamb
quota allotted to this State. He felt sure
that if the number proved too small the
department would increase the quota; The
small number of lambs exported from
Western Australia last' season had a de
cided bearing on the fixation of the State's
quota. There wae- no doubt that New
South Waks and Victoria should be well
satisfied with their quotas.
Mr. Farrell said that the Ottawa Agree
ments would not result in any restrictions
at Wyndham, and in view of the. relatively
small shipments of beef from Australia, it
was not likely that the export ,, of beef
from any other State would be interfered
with at any time.
