RAILWAY PICNIC.
Large Attendance at By ford
Fine weather added to the snecess of
the railway picnic held in aid'of the Harris
Hospital Comforts Fund at Byford yester
day. There waB an attendance of over
i,vw people, tde majority being conveyed
to Byford by four special trains. Drawn
by_ two decorated engines, 6n.e train com
prised fifteen large coaches capable of
carrying 1,500 passengers, and officials state
that it is the longest passenger train ever
placed on tbe West Australian railways. .
There is an abundance of wild flowers in
the Byford district -air present and many
took advantage- of' the-1 opportunity to col

A sports meeting was. held 'during, the
day. the' principal: event- being the Shef
field Handicap; of 120 -'yards,' :carrying prize,
money of £10.' The race wa« won by Jc
