Notes and Commeats.
'V Candidates for the^W^ Trottiiig Cup
may be seen in action at Brennan Park
on - Tuesday night. The Rates will be open
ed, at 7.30 and there will be no charge for
admission. '
To-morrow's Meeting.
The performances of Seattle, Mimi and
Maori -Princess (December Handicap, for
the' 222 and better class), ' and 'Arthur
Royal: (George Handicap, for the 2.28
and 'better class) I 'will be watched with
interest at the Fremantle club's meeting
to-morrow night. These pacers, who are
candidates for the Trotting Cup, will com
pete over a mile and five furlongs, one
furlong ? longer, than the distance of the
Cop. The .programme comprises a 'State
Handicap, _a Trotters' Handicap, an event
for the best horses, and three races for
2.28 and better class. The- first race is
timed to commence at^JOi. The Trotters'
Handicap wilFadyance the second Rodney
Trophy competition a. further stage. The
horses who have scored in the competition
which commenced- on October' 17, are: —
The Count (five points). Miss Laurie (three
points), and Woodland Don (one point).
Miss Lauri^ and Woodland Don are en
gaged to-morrow night. Another candi
date for the Trotters' Handicap is a new
comer in Vonia Dillon, a siS-year-qld mare
by Nelson Dillon from Peggy Vonie. She
has shaped well at country shows.
Handicaps Compared.
The marks of the Cnp candidates at the
meeting to be held at Fremantle tomor
row night are 'compared hereunder with
their Cup marks, which are shown in
parentheses:— Seattle, 2.20f (2.19); Minn,
2.18J (2.171), Maori Princess, 2.17| (2.171),
and Arthur Royal, 2.21* (2.18|). Seattle,
who has not appeared .since she was un
placed on September 26, has an Easter
Cup and a City Handicap to her credit.
Mimi has not finished in a place since
she won at a 2.18$ rate on September 19.
Maori Princess was fifth at a 2.16 rate
at her last start on December 5, while
Arthur Royal has competed 14 times this
season for two firsts, a second, and two
thirds.
Cup Betting.
Findon Derby remains a firm favourite
for the Trotting Cup at 3 to 1. Next in
demand are Glen Brick and Tommy Dil
lon at € to 1. Eight to one is on offer
about Canton, and Royal Again. The
Drices of 'the other horses are as follow: —
10 Fawn Childe, HeatherKorn. and Little
Flower, 12 Armatree Princess, Dessert
Bells, Idol Bits, and Maori Princess, 14
Percy's Son and Roy Medlow, 16 Willow
cliffe and Minton Bells, 20 Barbells, 25
Arthur. Royal and Rona, 33 Alice Myrtle,
Mickmul and Sheik, and 50 Melton Bells,
Mimi and Seattle.
Value of the Cup.
The prize money for the Trotting Cup
is £1,000 (including a gold cup valued at
£50). The winner of each heat will re
ceive £100, which is deducted from the
stake. If the ultimate winner of the
event is successful in its heat, its owner
will', receive £625 as well as - the trophy.
It costs only £12/11/3 for a horse to start
in the race. The New Zealand Cup, of
£3,000, was held recently in two divisions
(first day) and a final (second day). Each
division was worth £750, while £1,500 was
set aside ' for the final. Harold Logan,
who won the final, finished fourth in his
division, and won £850, which included
£50 for his fourth in the division. If
Harold -Logan had won the division his
earnings would have been £1,250. Nomin
ation, and acceptance fees for the New
Zealand Cup amounted to £21.
