PUBLICITY IN THE EAST.
Displays of Wildflowers.
The profusion, variety and colouring of
the wildflowers of Western Australia have
been admiringly, commented upon by visi-
tors from the Eastern States and abroad.
As the wildflowers will be seen at their
best at the time of the main Centenary
celebrations in September and October
next, an endeavour is being made to in-
terest people in Melbourne and Sydney,
and for this purpose window displays will
be made in each of these cities. The
State Publicity Officer (Mr. F. R. Mercer),
who will leave for Melbourne on Thursday
next to conduct a short publicity cam-
paign on behalf of the Centenary Execu-
tive Committee in conjunction with Com-
monwealth Railways, will take with him
a series of pictures in oils executed and
loaned by Misses H. Ogden and Ida H.
Richardson and Mrs. Emily H. Pelloe. It
is hoped to display these studies in the
window of the Council of Industrial De-
velopment to-morrow. Four enlarged and
coloured photos of the city and river, fram
ed in West Australian timbers,
are . also being forwarded for ex-
hibition purposes and these are now on.
view in the windows of 'Bon Marche, Ltd.,
Hay-street. Illustrations, Limited, has

caves, and the exhibits will also include a
