FAT STOCK.
MIDLAND.JUNCTION SALE.
Record Yarding of Sheep.
Over 24,000 sheep, a record for metro
politan sale yards, were offered at the
Midland Junction fat stock sale yesterday.
Sheep and lambs were firm and pigs and
cattle steady. Agents sold 16,735 sheep.
7,979 Iambs, 929 pigs and 259 cattle.
The quality of the sheep was indiffer-
ent; but there was a larger number of
good lambs. Prices, particularly for lambs,
were firm on last week's top rates. Gra
ziers were very active and lifted a large
portion of the yarding.
There was very keen competition for
pigs and values were equal to those ruling
last week. There was a good yarding of
quality pigs of all classes, except baconers,
which were rather short supplied, but
sufficient to last curers, over the holidays.
Cattle were well supplied, but weie mostly
small. Prices for good quality beef
suitable to the trade, were quite equal to
Tuesday's.
The Iarge yarding in all sections was
probably due to the fact that there will
be no sale next week, on account of the
Christmas holidays.

Sheep.
As yesterday's was the last market
of the year, with no further sale until
January 2, the yarding was one of the
heaviest yet seen. Supplies included 3,900
merino wethers from the Murchison, show
ing good pelts and very fair condition, and
5,500 merino wethers from Carnarvon, car
rying fair pelts, ranging from medium to
fair order. The balance came practically
from the Midland and Wongan Hills
lines, with fair numbers from the Eastern,
Great Southern and South-western lines.
Taking into consideration the large num
ber penned, the quality was indifferent,
the majority of the sheep being merino
wethers with a large percentage of med
ium aged ewes. Opening sales for all
pens suitable for the trade and graziers
were firm on last week's' top rates, whilst
good conditioned trade ewes, in some
cases, showed a rise. These prices con
tinued until towards the close of the
sale, when ewes showed a decline on open
ing sales, whilst wethers held throughout.
Graziers were operating and lifted about
10,000 to 12,000 sheep and lambs out of the
market. Quotations: — Shipped ex Carnar
von. — Best merino wethers, 23/10; good,

Pigs.
There were 200 pigs more than last week.
Supplies were drawn from the eastern
agricultural areas, Great Southern, South
West and Midland lines, and a fair number
from local sources. The quality of the yard
ing was good and all classes were well sup
plied, especially porkers of medium weight
There were not so many baconers as last
week, but the supply was quite sufficient
for the demand from the trade. There was
a good attendance of metropolitan buyers,
feeders and curers, and a number of buyers
from the country for stores. The market
opened very firm, bidding was fairly brisk
and last week's values were fully maintain
ed for all classes. Choppers: Fair supply,
values unchanged; heavyweight choppers,
£9 to £9/7/6, medium, £6/10/ to £8/10/;
light, £4/10/ to £5/15/. Baconers: Light
supply, with very few heavy baconers,
values remaining on a par with last week
Heavyweight baconers. £4/13/6 to £5/3/6;
medium, £4/5/ to £4/11/; light £3/18/ to
£4/3/6 Porkers: Heav supply, prices
being firm throughout. Heavyweight pork
ers, 53/ to 79/6; medium, 46/ to 53/. Slips
