Aims of Labour Caucus.
Sydney. June 5.
The Labour caucus of the City Council
intends -to do its utmost to bring about
a 44-hour week in the electrical trades
in New South Wales. The council has

be let for work that could possfniy be
done by day labour. A similar decision
was arrived at in regard to the City Ar
chitect's department, where a building
construction branch wns added, and it is
the expressed intention: of 'the Labour
caucus that sudh -works as the a-ddi
tions to the Town Hail, estimated to cost
albout £500.000. shall be done by thu
city building constructor, without call
ing for tenders. It is adso stated that
the Labour caucus intends to have the
new City Council power house erected
by the building constructor under day
labour, and chat there shall ibe no tenders
for the boSdiDE.
