At a representative meetlns of fruit

the gucensland' Fruit Marketing Organi

-y about fiftj; growers. Mr. P, H.
Taylor presided,
Mr. 8ampson explained that his in
formation' had been obtained by visiting
Queensland and making first-haml and
exhaustive inquiries into the problems of
marketing fruit, and the actual working
of the Act. The time bad arrived,' he
naid, when fruit marketing snould be
properly organised and placed upon a
sound basis. The Queensland method
of control provided means whereby grow
ers, were 'given an opporlttnity of secur
ing a fair return, for labour and capital
invested. The Act. aimed at stability
by the prevention, of glut* and famines.
Growers in Western Australia at pre
sent possessed no menns whereby they
coukl secure a [ price ' for their products.
The fruit was forwarded1 to the market,
and if they ? were fortunate they re
ceived a return, but it .often happened
that the market was glutted. fliie
Committee- of Direction in, Queensland
did more than merely instruct. growers
where to forward . the -fruit. Growers
were instructed how to' pack' and grade,
