AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION,
Merredin Field Day.
The Minister for Agriculture . (Mr. H.
K. Miiiey) bos 'i«cided that the annual

issues « -cordial invitation to all farmers
interested. The luncheon will be of a
picnic ?character, and visitors should
therefore make their own arrangements.

Iri order to familiarise Parliamenta
rians with the educational work which
is being carried out by the Government
experiineutial farms, the (Minister is en
deavouring to arrange for a strong 'Par
Jiajrrentary party to make the trip. For
their -conveiiience, and in order that
their Parliamentary duties' mlay not be
interfered .with, a. -special car will be at
tached- to the goods train which leaves
the city at lO.rfcj on Thursday night.
The Director of Agri-culture (Mr. G.
Sutton) point® out -that a-sipe-cial feature
of interest to visitors; this year will foe
the experiments! dealing with two phases
of the Winnnera. practice, viz., bite sow
ing -uid heavy fertilising. Those two
experiments have been carried out at
both the Merredin and 'Chapman farms.
The seasonal planting experiment com
prises thrf-e plots which have been sown
respectively ia May.- June and July. The
fertiliser trial include.? plots, which have
been, sown with 751b.. l'»01b., and 2251b.
of superphosphate per aero. At the
dsrfce of the field day these plots vill
layed. pending the accmnula-tion of the
visitors h- smhv the effects of the differ
ent treatments'. A tour of the plots will
be «omimuiced a.t 11 a.m.. and the vari
ous phases -of the work wfll be exnkhred
by the Director -and stuff.
In addition to the usual train service
the Commissioner of Railways is pro
viding ptussenser accommodation, on the
gwxte train leaving Northam as 5.50 a.m.
on Friday, the time tablp- being as fol

ley. 6.25 ajn.: Canderdin, 7.3ii a.m.:
