Bread Case Appeal.—The Woodville
Council decided last night not to con- <*>
tribute towards the cost of an appeal
by the West Torrens District Council
against the judgment in the case in
which a baker was charged with having
sold underweight bread.
Tapley's HBI Road Bridge.—On the
motion of Councillor Cole, the Wood
ville council decided last night to re
quest the Government to widen the
Tapley's Hill road bridge. Councillor
Cole said that it was almost impossible
for two vehicles to cross on the bridge
New Port Line Station.—lnformation
was received by the Woodville Council
from the Railways Commissioner (Mr.
Anderson) last night that it would be
necessary to defer the question of pro
viding an additional station between
Cheltenham and Alberton on Oie Port
line. It was pointed out that a sta
tion and subway would cost £3,500 to
construct, and nearly £1,000 a year
would be spent on staff and interest
and it was doubtful if the financial re
sult to the railways would be satisfac
tory.
Band Of Hope Union.—The secretary
of the South Australian branch of the
Band of Hope Union (Miss Annie V.
Clarke) yesterday received from the
secretary of the United Kingdom Band
of Hope Union a certificate of greeting.
The text conveyed cordial congratula
tions on the occasion of the 21st birth
day anniversary celebrations of the
South Australian organisation. The cer
tificate was signed by Messrs. Angus
Watson (president). Cyril W. Black
(chairman), and Stanley W. Morgan
