ABORIGINE BENEATH
WOMAN'S BED
Feared Native Initiation
Ceremony
DARWIN, September 13.
The discovery of an aborigine beneath
a woman's bed in the early hours of
the morning, and a fight between the
native and the woman's husband re-
sulted in the appearance of a young
aborigine named Jackie before the
Police Court this morning on a charge
of having been unlawfully on the pre
mises. On the application of the police,
the hearing was postponed before the
plea was entered, as it was stated that a
more serious charge might be preferred
against the defendant.
The native, it is understood, told the
police an amazing story that an initia
tion ceremony was in progress in the
aborigines' compound, and he feared
that other natives might attempt to
take his kidney fat, so he fled to the
white man's house to hide from pur
suers.
Crown Law officers are considering
what action should be taken against
Jackie.
