Man's Promptitude Saves
Life From Wasp Sting
LONDON. September 13
When a wasp stung him. a man in
Kent promptly sucked the wound and
applied iodine. Soon afterwards he
experienced pain in his throat and
' ■ lips. He immediately went to a hos
; 1 pital. where doctors declared that only
his promptitude in going to hospital
saved his life.
Apparently the man was sensitive to
- formic acid poisoning, a small quan
. tity of which, left in the sting wound
I must have been absorbed in a slight
abrasion on the lips. There have bren
four or five cases of deaths from wasp
- stings this summer.
