LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY.
THIS EVENING'S BUSINESS.
The Legislative Assembly sits this evening
at 7.30. The following business is on the
agenda paper :
Questions Mr. De Hamel : To ask the
Colonial Treasurer, whether the Government
have arranged with the National Bank of
Australasia to allow the repayment of the
£60,000 advanced by the said bank to the
Midland Railway Company to stand over for
six months ? And if sofa.) From what
date ? (b.) Upon what terms and (c.)
Whether such arrangement (if any) is verbal
or in writing ? Mr. Loton : To ask the Commissioner
of Railways'.) Whether the
scale of tolls for the conveyance of passengers
and goods on the Midland Railway is
approved of by the Government ? If so,
what are the reasons that induced the Government
to approve of a scale of tolls so
much in excess of that charged on the Eastern
Railway ? Will the Government take the
necessary measures to have the scale of
tolls reduced ? Mr. Loton : To ask the
Commissioner of Railways, Whether the
Government intend to urge upon the Midland
Railway Company the necessity of running a
train in each direction on the line of railway
opened, daily, or not less than three times
per week, as provided under clause 39 of the
contract. Mr. Traylen : To ask the Director
of Public Works, when a further sum of loan
money will be available for the further construction
of the road to the Greenough Cross-
ing and the approaches to Walkaway station.
Mr. Solomon : To ask the Director of Public
Works, If any report from the Harbour
Master has been received by the Government
respecting the lengthening of the south jetty
at Fremantle, used by coasting vessels and
I lighters and if so, is it the intention of the
Government, with a view of carrying out any
I suggestions made, to place a sum on the
estimates for 1893 for such purpose ?

has arrived when, in the interests of agriculture
the Goverment should take steps to
establish an Agricultural College and Experi-
mental Farm.
