BENEVOLENT SOCIETY.
The executive committee of the Hobart
Benevolent Society met on Wednesday.
Present: Mr. Percy Ash (chairman),
Messrs. H. T. Gould, F. J. Baily, J. Boxall,
A. E. Wadsley, and the secretary (Mr.
Frank Bowden). The fortnightly report
showed that nine new applications had
been received. For the week ended No-
vember 3, 21 cases had been assisted, com-
prising eight men, 21 women, and 59
children; and for the week ended Novem-
ber 10, IO cases,- including nine men, 17
women, and 44 children, being a total of
158 persons. The relief distributed in-
cluded 234 loaves of bread, 141b. tea, 6GIb.
sugar, 57lb. oatmeal, and 1141b. meat. Fuel
had been supplied to eight families. Do-
nations were thankfully acknowledged of
£C from Messrs. Cadbury, Fry, Pascall
Xitd., Claremont; food from American Cat-
enas Co-i and clothing, from lura. Bow
