FAIR AT BELLERIVE
G.F.S. EFFORT.
Success attended the fair conducted, by
tbo Bellerive branch of tho Girls' Friendly
Society in the Bellerive Institute ou Sat-
urday afternoon, despite the fact that the
continued rain for several precediug; days
had caused the organisers to abandon thc
project of holding tile function in tit.
Mark's Church grounds. Buyers were
numerous and business good, and as a
result of thc fair the (St. Mark's Sunday
school building fund will benefit by about j
£34. The fair was declared open by the '
I Rev. n. C. Brammall. Sister Phyllis, of
the Collegiate School, who was to have
¡ performed the ceremony, was prevented by
illness from being present.
A feature of the fair was the pedlars'
iparade, in which some 20 prettily-dressed
I children took part. There were two
fairies, several Chinese, an "old lady"
j (aged 0) ia a crinoline, un ink-pot, and
! many other characters whom it would be
somewhat difficult to place.
Stalls and stall-holders were:-Work
stall (at which all articles for sale were
made by junior candidates of thc C.F.S.),
Miss Stevens and girls; general stall. Miss
Harris, Misses M. Woods and V. Walsh;
cakes. Misses J. Crawford, M. Bastick, T.
Middleton, and G. Innes; sweets, Misses P.
Denholm, P. Miller, and I. Nicholls;
jumble stall, Misses R. Beid and V. Burke;
produce, Miss M. Jordan; afternoon toa,
Slesdamcs Burke and Woods, Misses D.
Jordan, .T. Burke. D. Woods, and V.
Kusick: iish pond, Miss Jameson and
girls: Howers, Miss J. Middleton. Thc
capable joint secretaries were Misses Amy
Allenby and Joan Middleton.
