Purchase of House Site

The purchase ot a quarter of an acre
of land on which a house will he built
for Mr. and Mrs. .1. Ackerly and family
at Lachlan to replace the home they lost
In a recent tragic Ure was agreed upon
at Kew Norfolk yesterday by the com-
mittee appointed lo administer funds
raised by a public appeal. The amount
collected so far Ls £'317.
The "Warden (Councillor R. O. Shoo-
bridge. M.L.C.) stated after the meet-
ing thal the erection.of the house would
bs- proceeded.with as soon as the trans-
fer of the land was completed. A sur-
veyor would visit Lachlan today to de
line the block, and plans were ready so
that estimates could be obtained for tho
building of the house, lt was'hoped
lo make usc of house foundations which
already exist on the block ot land pur-
chased, and to arrange for the success-
ful tenderer to use 1,000ft.- of timber
which has been offered as a gift towards
the erection of the'bulldlns.
Mr. Shoobridge said it had been as-
certained that the administration of the
fund could not ho vested in a committee
which was appointed at the last meet-
ing of the New Norfolk Council because
ol' certain legal diillciillleH, nnd ho pro-
posed to recommend that the Council
should take ov.or the matter on behalf
of the family.
Mr. Shoobridge added that everything
done so far lind had the approval of
the, manager of the Hobart broadcast-
ing station through which the appeal
for funds had been made. Thc public
could he assured thnt tho building of
the new house would bo proceeded with
without the slightest delay.
