A picnic waa Leid on the banks of the
! Meander River at Strath, near Hagley,

' is leaving Hagley to continue studies at the
Training College, Hobart. After toa

Scott with xylonite brush and comb and
' box of chocolates from the St. Mary's
1 Choir. Mr. Frank Scott, on behalf of his

I senti. Games were plajed, and a very
happy. evening spent,
The beautiful homestead of Mr. and
Mrs. F. L. Beveridge, Alva, Hagley,
was the rendezvous on Thursday night
last of a surprise party tendered to
Miss S. Sykes, organist of St. Mary's
Anglican Church, who is being trans
ferred from the Westbury School by
the Education Department to Burnie.
¡.Miss Sykes has been organist at St.
Mary's for several years, and the occa-
sion of her leaving the district led the
choir to organise a surprise party and
tender her a presentation. The party
numbered about thirty, and a very plea-
sant evening was spent. The record,
the Venerable Archdeacons Berresford,
in a particularly happy speech, made
tho presentation. He remarked upor
the splendid service which Miss Sykci
had rendered the church as organist
and spoke of the esteem and regard it
which she was held, the general mgre'
that was felt at her departure, am
