LONDON, Thursday.
A methodist newspaper, The
Methodist Recorder, to-day criticised
the President of the Methodist
Conference, Dr. Soper, for
Wa attacks on the Queen for
going to horse races.

The. newspaper comments
Methodists, like most other
Christians, are not much addicted
to attendance at race meetings
with all their associations
of " gambling, and, they might
be happier if these did not have
support in the highest quarters.
But this is a very different thing
from proffering advice to the
Queen upon which of the traditional
social occasions of her
people she should honour by her
presence and which she ought
to shun".
