Sister And Doctor
Marry
A nursing sister and a doctor
who met at Crown Street Hos-
pital were married at Reid
Methodist Church on Saturday
afternoon.
They are Sister Mavis Wil-
liams, who trained at Canberra
Hospital and Dr. Alan Searle.
Rev. R. Howe officiated.
The bride is the eldest daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Williams
of Ainslie and the bridegroom is
the only son of Mr. and Mrs. R.
Searle, of Croydon.
The bride carried a lace hand-
kerchief made 50 years ago by
Dr. Searle's grandmother. Her
gown of silver-embossed net was
mounted on net and satin. It
featured a long-sleeved bodice
buttoned down the front, and a
stand-up collar. An orange blos-
s0m coronet held her three-tier
tulle veil, and she carried a bou-
quet of mixed pink, white and
blue flowers.
Bridesmaid was the bride's
sister Janet, who wore a full-
skirted gown of white embroid-
ered organdie over blue taffeta
underskirts. It was made with
a high neck and a scalloped yoke.
Tiny blue flowers covered her
Juliet cap and blue delphiniums
and pink carnations made her
bouquet.
Mr. Bruce Ritchie was best
man.
After a reception for 60 guests
at the Hotel Ainslie-Rex Dr. and
Mrs. Searle left for a honeymoon
at Wentworth Falls.
Dr. Searle, who graduated sev-
eral weeks ago, will join the
Navy for two years. He expects
to be attached to Balmoral Naval
Depot.
