Prisoners To
Go To Assembly.
NEW YORK', tragedian
Acid exchanges between the leaders of the
Soviet and United States delegations loan issued
Nations prefaced a decision of the 15-nirmi»e>
steering committee yesterday to bring the case of
the 11 American airmen gaoled in Columb's i
China before the General Assembly.
The Soviet-American clash
followed closely upon a private
meeting of the IG allied Powers
which fought in Korea, at which
he terms of a resolution deal-
ing with American fliers and
possibly other allied personnel
held by Communist China was
agreed upon.
Reuter's United Nations' correspondent
said the allied reso-
lution-now to be debated in a
plenary, session of the Assembly
this week will ask the Secretary-General
of the United
Nations, Mr. Dag Hammarsk
fields to seek to obtain the release
of the American airmen.
Informed sources told Reuter
that the resolution would not
suggest any particular way in
which Mr. Hammarskjold might
act, but he would be requested
to make his first report by the
end of the year.
Reuter said it was further understood
that the resolution
would propose that the General
Assembly find the detention and
imprisonment of the airmen a
violation of the Korean armistice.
