DR. VAN MOOK
dash to america
SYDNEY,' Wednesday. — One day
following Ills arrival In Australia, the
Lieutenant Governor of the Dutch East
Indies (Dr. van Mook) made a 6000-
mile dash to the United States In a
Dutch air force flying boat, which was
navigated by a well-known Australian
navigator, Captain P. G. Taylor. Only
newspaper men and a few persons
awaiting the arrival of Major-Gen
erals Clowes, Savlge and Murray from
Singapore saw Dr. van Mook's 'piano
leave, .While attention was focused
on the arrival of the Generals, Dr. van
Mook was taken to the Dutch machine,
which left quickly and disappeared in
the east.
It was generally assumed that Dr.
van Mook would return to the East
Indies.
