MAIN ROADS WORKERS
Statutory Holidays Pay
COURT RESERVES DECISION
BRISBANE, Monday. — The Indus
trial Court to-day reserved its decision
on an application by the Australian
Workers' Union for interpretation of
the clause relating to payment for
statutory holidays,
Mr. C. G. Fallon (for the union) said
that the Main Roads Commission had
refused to pay employees under the
Local Authorities' Award, who had
been so employed for more than three
months nnd less than 12 months, for
statutory holidays during the closing
down of Main Roads Commission Jobs
at Christmas. The A.W.U. claimed that
such employees were not entitled to
annual leave, but wore entitled to a
cash payment equal to the value of
annual leave, according to the period
of omployment, nnd to payment for
Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New
Year's Day.
