The weather In Dalby to-day was warm,
with pnssing clouds until about 5.30 o'ciock.
when a heavy shower was experienced.
Pittsworth
Anril 25
To assist the Government House appeal the
Pittsworth branch of the Australian Comforts
Fund held street stalls In the main street
last Saturday morning. The attractive stalls,
decorated by Mrs. W. Flcglcr and Miss M.
Holmes, wore representations of llie Navy and
the sicgrlcd Line, nnd did good business In
cakes, Jams and sweets, etc. The total pro
ceeds were £ 12/7/1. The stallholders were:
Mesdames Logan. Blnney, E. Corfe and Miss
D. Corfe and Mesdames W. Flcgler, Shaw,
T. Holmes (senior). Hunt, Evans and Misses
M. Holmes nnd A. Frost.
A euchre party niuLdancc organised by the
C.E.M.S. wns held In the parish hall. It wns
a pronounced success. The prollt amounted
to approximately £8. Mr. M. P. Scott was
M.C. The music was supplied by Stevens' Or
chestra. Extras were played by Mr. L. Tews.
The proceeds aro to be divided between the
Sprlngsldc Church, St. Andrew's Church and
the Parish Hall. A chocolate waltz wns won
by Miss M. Holmes and a spot waltz by Miss
J. Coonnn. Mr. T. Cunningham supervised the
cuchrc.
Brigalow
April 25
The Brigalow branch of (he Australian Coiu-
'orts Fund conducted a successful oftecunun
,Br,BftJow tennis courts last Saturday.
Entertainment was provided by tennis, bowls
miniature golf and quoits, and a fl6h nond
was arranged for the children. AftcmSon tea
Iha Batckeepers were. Messrs. T.
Ginnlvan and P. Black. Messrs. S. Treasure
oUL , wu,acy supervised the tennis. Mrs.
P. Black was in charge of the fish pond and
Mesdames M. Smith and E. Buchanan con
ducted the refreshment stall. Games were or
ganised by younger members of the branch.
There was n good attendance and approxi
mately £5 was cleared.
The April meeting of the Band of Hope was
well attended at the Methodist Church.
Twenty members were present. Mrs. Peake
presided. After business wns concluded games
were played and competitions held. Each
member gave a recitation or a musical item.
Mr. nnd Mrs. D. C. Robertson have re
turned to Gymple. — Mrs. R. Alsbett Is spend
ing n holiday in Brisbane.— Miss D. Palmer,
who had been staying with Mr. and Mrs. T. j
Alsbett at Bcltonn. has returned to Sydney. I
Mr. A. Harris has gone to Melbourne; he I
has joined the Royal Australian Air Force. |
