opium and other drugs; She declared
narcotic drugs, must be removed from .
the sphere of manufacture, pnd inter

mercial interests.
USE OF CIGARETTES , .
Mrs. J. Williams, State president,
in a paper read by Miss E. Steele, de
clared education was the only method
that would be effective in dealing witn
the question. She suggested - the intro-
duction into school, especially the
higher-and secondary schools, of a na-/
tional narcotic education week,
carried out in some other countries.
She added they were growing so fam
iliar with the consistent use of cigar
ettes, that they were losing sight of
the fact that nicotine was a poisonous
drug.
ANTI-NARCOTIC DAY
It was resolved that- other women,
organisations,, be asked to co-operate
in an anti-narcotic day, making av
special appeal against cigaretto
smoking among boys and girls, to
furnish facts on this problem to pub
lic schools, to appeal in- the -interest
of youth, to editors of daily papers,
to publish facts, and to seek the as
sistance of the' health authorities. '
