POST OFFICE
PREPARES
FOR RUSH
Bundaberg Post Office is
preparing for a rush on
postal facilities during the
next few weeks.
The postmaster (Mr. P. H.
Maskell) said yesterday that
extra staff had been employ
ed to cope with the rise In
Christmas packages. . tele
grams and letters.
He added that this was nor
mal procedure each year as
Christmas approached.
Mr. Maskell said the Post
nttice exoected a big increase
In telephone calls, but so far
there had been no noticeable
iHe pointed out' that the
telephone exchange would give
an uninterrupted service over
the Christmas period.
The Post Office was hopeful
thnt its “post earlv” cam
paign would be successful, but
each year the staff had to
core with last-minute mail.
Mr. Maskell said that by
posting mail early the public
were helping themselves as
well as the Post Office. If mall
was posted early there would
be no delay In deliveries betore
Christmas.
The Post office had not re
ceived official word of clos
ing times during the festive
period, but they would be the
same as last year.
