Slieep Graze In
City Street
For the first time probably since
the early days of white'settlement
in New South Wales, sheep were
seen grazing In Martin .Place, in
the heart of Sydney;, last Week-end
when a" display was held there by
the Sheepbreeders’ Association of
New South Wales. Included amtng
the sheep were two merinos, lineal
descendants of the first Spanish
merinos brought to this country In
1789. The Macarthur OnBlow family
at Cnmden Park had sent these
.merinos, which were direct descen
dants of the sheen , acquired by
John MncartUurJ Jwhonl Captain
Waterhouse brought from tlib Cape
sheep which had been ..presented
by ..the King, of .Spain' to George

Co-Operating with the associa
tion, the Australian Wool Board
sent its popuar "Wo'i on Wheels":
unit. The unit exhibited wool from
the angles of production, manu
facture ■ and the requirements of
modem fashion. So popular were
the tw-. unusual attractions that
the total attendance of the public
was estimated at 12,000.
