in comnection with the disturba-nce caused
by unemployed mnu at the Chief Secre
tary'v office on Thursday, six mern were
called upon to-lsa in the Police Court to
answer charges of riotous behaviour. In
the first case. that of Edward Jackson
evidence was given by the police to the
effect. that a body of men made a rush
for the door of the Treasurv buildings.
There were cries of *Break the door down''
and "Force your war in " One of the lead
ers, Warner, was struck with a baton.
Jackson said: "Push on, you - ! Wc
can eat all the police here." After Warner
had been hit, with a baton the crowd feUl
back. Jackson told the Court that he,
Warner. and other memrbers of the unem
ployed committee were going to interview
the Treasurer 4Mr. Lang). Some of the
men at the back pushed him forward. Re
was struck with a baton. and also with
handcuffs. The Court impoeed a fine of
£2. in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
The other cases were adjourned for a week.
