ATOMIC
BOMB
TUITION
ADELAIDE, Wed.—The
Minister for the Army
(Mr Chambers) announced
today that instruction in
the use of atomic bombs in
warfare already had been
included in the Duntroon
Military College curri-
culum.
Further technical training would
be given to trainee officers when the
National University was established
at Canberra.
Mr Chambers said Australian
army officers were to be trained
with a broader scientific back-
ground, the idea being to equip
them for any further intensive
training decided upon by the Army.
Referring to criticism that the
C.M.F. was "worth nothing at all,"
one Minister said that even though
Australia had 10 times its proposed
postwar armed force strength in
uniform it would be quite impossible
to equip it with modern weapons
and machines, despite alarmist
claims about Soviet Russia.
"The fact still remains that most
of the equipment the Russians have
at the moment is obsolete," said Mr
Chambers.
"The foundations for a highly
efficient postwar army are being
soundly laid, and should the need
for expansion arise the preparation
and groundwork will have been ac-
complished."
