French Denial
Of Selling Wool
From Australia
PARIS, Sunday.
Authoritative French
sources stated that the
Foreign Minister (Sean
man) denied to Dr. Evatt
Mr. Chifley's statement that
France was among other
* countries reselling Australian
wool to the United
States at a cut rate to obtain
dollars, " There
were however, French
buyers working for American
concerns in Australia, but these
transactions were carried out in
dollars-and has nothing to do

Some Australian wool, which

treated in Italy and transformed
into manufactured articles which
were then sold in' the United
States for dollars, which was
perfectly legal -
An official communique said
that Dr. Evatt and Schuman,
when they conferred yesterday,
spoke of the traditional friend-
ship and of the common policy
of France and Australia in the
Pacific region.
