THE COLLIE MINERS.
WORK TO BE RESUMED TO-DAY.
Collie, Mny t.
An aggregate meeiing of the Collie Dis
trict Miners' Union was held this afternoon
in the Town Hall. The following resolu
tions were carried:--(1) "This meeting
agrees that the miners should return to
work to-morrow morning as suggested b,
the State Industrial Disputes omnmittee,
and that we hold ourselves in readiness
when called upon to act in whatever way
necessary." (2) "This aggregate meeting oc
miners sends an emphatic protest to the
Government, the Locomotive Drivers'
Union, and the State Industrial Disputes
Committee against the importation of any
coal produced by coloured labour, thereby
reducing the labour of the miners employ
ed in Collie. Failing a settlement of this
question, the executive officers to take
whatever action is necessary to enforce
a settlement."
MINERS' ATTITUDE.
Mr. A. Clementson (A.L.F. assistant secre
tary) returned to the city from Collie
yesterday.. He said to a reporter:-"In
connection with the paragraph appearing in
yesterday's issue of the 'West Australian'
relating to the attitude of the Collie Miners'
Union towards the Fremantle lumpers' dis
pute, I wish to explaih that the action
of the miners in holding a stop-work meet
mug to-day was due to the belief on their
part that there would be a rgnewal of
hostilities this morning, and that they
would be required to .come to Fremantle
to give the lumpers physical assistance.
When I left Collie it was definitely agreed
between the miners' executive officers and
myself that unless otherwise instructed by
the State industrial disputes committee.
they would resume work as usual to-morrow
morning."
