DEATH OF FOUNDLING
BOY
SYDNEY, Wednesday
The death occurred at the
Crown Street Women's Hospital
of the foundling baby boy, three
days old, jvIicl'wbb found abandoned
in grass at Campsie.
Doctors made every endeavour
to save the child's life, but the
infant had developed cerebral
haemorrhage and pneumonia.
The police believe' the mother
was seen apparently ill, alongside
a man in a car at Herne Bay
on Monday night several hours
before the child was found.
Staff members and patients at
the hospital broke down when
news of the death spread.
A post mortem revealed that
the child died from a fractured
skull and pneumonia.
Many gifts of clothing poured
into the hospital yesterday while
others, including a girl and an
old aged pensioner, offered small
sums of money. I
