POOR QUALITY OF
WORKING CLOTHES
/FHE quality of the material used
in workingmen's clothes was now
so poor that wearers were unable to
jump a log without the cloth .tear-
ing, said Mr. Smipson (New Eng
land) at today's graziers' conference.
He was speaking on a motion that
conference viewed with alarm the in
crease in price and decrease in qual
ity of workingmen's clothes, effect
ing a double hit at living costs.
The motion, which was carried, also
pointed out that the poor quality
material reduced coupon value and
adversely affected the manpower
position.
Mr. Simpson said that if working
clothes were given a bit of work they
lasted only a fortnight, instead of six
months, as they should.
