SHIPPING SIGNAiL AT FREMANTLE.
The following system of signallIng will be em
ployed at' ArthurHead flagstaff on and after
August 1, 1911;.t-;. . y . -.
(Accordingr as a vessel is north or south the
signis will be hoisted to.north or south yard
DAY SIGNAL.S.
A black hall denotes n steamer.,:
A '-black square denot:es a: fullrigged "sihip.
A black cross?denotes a barque., ;
A black - triangle . denotes : a brigantine;
schooner, or other -fore and aft rigged sailing,
- white flag denotes a sailing vessel rig not
y et made out. .' ,
When the. line to which any vessel which has
been sighted. is determined the house or ren-.
dezvous lnl .will be- hoisted immediately under
the symbol to which it a'pplies. .
When the vessel has rounded Iottnest Island
or has been boarded by a pilot (where a pilot
is taken) a blue pennant or the pilot flag resrpeo
tively, will be hoisted under the house or rem-.
dezvos flao, will be a square flg. -the upper
half of which is white and the lower half red.
When the vessel is coming direct into the
Inner Harbour the berth she is to occupy will
he denoted by flags hoisted under the house or
rendezvous flog (in place of the blue pennant
or pilot flag an the care may be), berths being
indicated by white flags with red letters. Should
vessel be boarded by quarantine offiTer, a ellow
flag will be hoisted' under berth sgnos a?d
nert flying .nder symbol. denoting rig, will
be owered half-way down and mainst ed n that
position. while vIIesl so remains an anchor.
Should vessel he in Quarantine the yellow flag
will be hoisted under house or rendezvous flag.
Isould she be working explosives in "powder

or rendezvous flag.
