TAUGHT 14th ARMY
JUNGLE WARFARE
LONDON, Sunday.
Australians in New Guinea taught
the British 14th Army in Burma the
first lessons of jungle warfare and
how to master the Japanese infiltra-
tion tactics, said the Commandant of
the Imperial Defence College (General
Slim) when referring to an address
given to the students by Dr.
Evatt on Friday.
In his talk to the students, on Empire
foreign relations, Dr. Evatt paid
a tribute to the valuable work of the
college in the past 20 years and re-
called that Generals Lavarack, Sturdee,
Northcott and Rowell, of the
Australian Army, Were all students
at the College.
Dr. Evatt also praised the work of
General Slim in Burma.
