COAL SUPPLIES
RUNS SHORT DUE
TO HOLIDAYS SYDNEY,
Sunday.:
The urgent need for coal supplies
by Victoria and South Australia,
where gas rationing is threatening,
could not- bemet immediately, said
the Coal Commissioner. (H. L. Wil-
liams) to-night.
He added that the shortage of supplies
from New South Wales mines
would be aggravated by the Easter
holidays., "<
A further hold-up would be caused
on Anzac Day this week, when some
of the mines would again be idle.
He appealed to the public to con-
serve electricity and gas until greater
supplies were: available.
An acute position existed in Sydney
where" the County Council electricity
undertakings had only one.
