gENATOR MORROW displayed this photograph
of Princess Margaret conversing with Dr.
_ Hewlett Johnson, known as the "Red Dean" of
Canterbury, when defending his actions before a
meeting of the Denison branch of the A.L.P. on
»Monday night.
gENATOR MORROW was
asked to attend a meeting
of the branch to explain his
actions in associating on the
same platform with Communist
leaders at the recent Peace
Council conference in Melbourne,
which was addressed tay the
"Red Dean.".
Senator Morrow is a member
of the branch, which decided to
accept his explanation that when
he attended the meeting the
Federal executive of the A.L.P.
had not declared the Peace
Council a Communist organisa-
tion.
Senator Morrow denied that
he had ever been associated with
the Communist Party. .
' He claimed that, il it was
good enough for a member of the
Royal Family to associate with
! the "Red Dean," no exception
should be taken to his doing
so.
There were ' some lively ex-
changes, but after Senator Mor-
row had spoken at length his
explanation was accepted.
Senator Hendrickson (Lab.,
V.) said in the Senate in Can
, berra yesterday that the vote of
confidence for Senate Morrow
was 56 to four.
