WHEAT SILOS FIRE AT
TAMWORTH
Extensive Damage
TAMWORTH, Tuesday.
The greatest fire that was ever seen
in Tamworth broke out to-night
in the premises of the West Tamworth
Milling Co., West Tamworth.
Damage is estimated at £100 000.
The fire broke out in a motor in
the silo section of the premises, the
largest interest in which is held by
W. R. Moran, of Sydney.
Ten oregon pine bins of the silo
section, containing 13,000 bushels of
wheat, became an inferno of white-
hot wheat, tinged with green, which
poured in a blazing stream to the
basement, 60ft. below.
Wheat in railway trucks alongside
the building were set alight and
the flames spread to a large shed
which contained many thousands of
wheat bags, which were quickly de-
stroyed.
