LETTER FROM MR. KIDD.
Sydney, October 24.
A letter has been received here from
Mr. Kidd, who succeeded Mr. Lane as
head of the New Australian colony,
South America. He expresses surprise
tliat some of those pioi-iiueut in organis
ing the movement have not put iv an
appearance. He adds that a good deal of
planting has been dono by the settlers
and if good crops are obtained the colony
will be placed in nn independent position.
He expresses his satisfaction with the
place, but he anticipates difficulties. He
says there arc .some i?en now -whit the
movement who will conn be leaving. He
has confidence in Sir. Cas«y, tbe dele
gate now in Australia., bc-in^ able to fully
espinin everything, and that further ship
loads of emigrants will follow.
