JUNIOR BRANCH
FORMED
Victoria League At
Launceston
Increased Membership
The outstanding events ot the year
were the formation of a junior branch,
and the gift of apples from tho children
of Northern Tasmania for distribution
among tho poorer children In London.
This was stated in the report presented
at the annual meeting of tho Launces-
ton branch of the Victoria League at the
Hotel Metropole yesterday. ? Mrs. G.
A. H. Youl presided. New members
elected were Mesdames 13. A. McKenna,
B. Youl, W. It. Bennett, A. Stewart, F.
Woodroffe, C. P. Andrews, Misses J.
Pennefather, D. Thirkell, L. Newell,
Messrs. J. Lithgow, A. G. Evans.
The report stated that the member-
ship was 330, and that there were 34
new members. Moro books und maga-
zines were needed for the after-care
ward. The financial statement showed
a credit of £76,
The report and financia! statement
were adopted.
Officers elected were: President, Mrs,
C. St. Clair Cameron; acting president,
Mrs. C. A. H. Youl; vice-presidents,
Mesdames C. A. H. Youl, A. VV. Monds.

The Mayoress addressed the children.
She said tho intention of the Victoria
League was to try to further Its sphere
of usefulness by the formation of n
young persons' section. She appealed
tor books tor children in Isolateil
centres.
