RIFLE SHOOTING
St. Helens v. Pioneer
The Pioneer Rifle Club visited St. Helens
during the week-end, and fired ft match
against the St. Helens . Club; for the
Thompson and Balles- challenge cups.
The St. Helens Club won both events.
V. Thompson (St. Helens) won the
Thompson cup (with 101) and O. J. Smith
was runner-up for the Bailey cup. A.

The Westbury Rifle Club visited Evan-
dale and defeated the home team by 41
points'. Top. scorer for the winners was
R. Mltchelson, w.ho scored 66 including the
possible nt 400>ds. W. Newton also scored
the fuir points at 300yds. Top scorer for
Evandale was T, Rlancombe with 61.' The
visitors were welcomed by the captain of
the Evandale Club (Mr. T. G. Stancombe),:
who said It was the first occasion that a
team from ? Westbury had visited Evan-

Children's Fund and a trophy donated by
Mr. R. Nailer was disposed of. The pro-
ceeds'amounted to £3 15s. C. F. Salter,
president of the club, was awarded .the
captain's'trophy, and L. Dakin annexed
Mr. Nailer's.

Fingal v. Parattah
. A teams match between- teams' repre-
senting the Fingal and 'Parattah' Rifle
Clubs will be fired on the Fingal range
tomorrow, over ranges 300yds.,'500yds., and
600yds. The Parattah team will be en-
tertained at a dinner at the Fingal Hotel
after the match, and later at a"dance. "The"

Bothwell
À bridge evening held at Logan. on
Thursday in aid ot the Bothwell quota
for the funds of the Tasmanian Insti-
tution for the Blind, Deaf, and Dumb
realised £2 13s. Cd. Trophies for the
highest scores were won by Mrs. Colin
Clarke and Mr. C. L. Archer.
