LICENSE FEES
MAY BE REDUCED
The reduction of license fees for
the holding of prizefighting in Ma
nila was sought in a proposed or
dinance filed by Councilor Herme-
negildo Atienza with the municipal
board yesterday afternoon.
The measure would reduce an- 1
nual license fees from PI, 500 which j
is the actual rate, to P100 only. The j
existing fee of P30 for each night
of prize-fighting is maintained,
however.
The proposed ordinance was re
ferred to the board's committee on i
licenses, headed by Councilor Anto- j
nio C. Torres, for study and recom- 1
mendation. The committee was j
instructed to file a report next
week. j
i Councilor Atienza said that the
I purpose of his measure was to en-
! courage enthusiasm for boxing in
I Manila by minimizing impositions
j on prize-fight clubs, which are try
ing their best to revive boxing en
thusiasm here.
