THE INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION.
The attendance at the Industrial Exhibition
on Thursday were 1,118. In the evening a
ballad; concert was held, when a fair number
of people were present. The programme was
opened by the Beaumont Read quartett sing
ing l'earson's "Three doughty men," which
was followed by Adams's song "The Island of
dreawv' which was excellently rendered by
Mr. T. li. JOddleton. The Misses Ada and
Sarah Drew then gave the duet "Go, pretty
rose" (Manual's), for which they received well
merited applause. The Beaumont Read quar
tett gaveKuchen's "The soldier's love," and
later on, DanbyVi "May day," Hatton'ii
"Beware," aud "The UeHs" by tha same
antbor. MU? Lucy Stevenson met with
a most hearty reception in both her
songs, the first being " Mai-guerita " (White),
and " A little mountain lad >T (Rucckcl). Ms-.
H. G. Jvash sang "The gallants of England,"
while Miis Hozier and the Misses Drew gave
Rossini's quartet, '"Charity," and the Misses
Ada and Alice Drew rendered Glover's duet,
"I heard a voice. n Mr. C. J. Stevens acted
as musical director.
