Tokyo has not yet given up
its designs l'or the conquest of
Australia; if not in this gen
eration, then perhaps in the
next.
A talk by Admiral S. Taka-
hashi, former Commander-in-
Chief of tire Combined Japanese
Fleets, to the- children of Jnpan,
which was intercepted by the
Department of Information
Listening Post, said:
"From now on the war will be
long, with much difficult fight
ing. It is our duty to take back
all our Pacific Islands and ex
tend even as far as Australia,
thus rescuing our brothers of
greater East Asia and spreading
the spirit of universal brother
hood.
"You, as the rising generation,
must study and work hard so
that you may in future rescue
the people of the co-prosperity
sphere. You must forget your
loneliness' in your evacuation
centres with the lighting spirit
of tlie Navy within you."
l'akahaslii warned the children
that after the enemy's latest
successes landings might not
only be made in the Philippines
but even in Formosa, the Luchu
Islands, or even on the Japanese
mainland.
