phal procession which, turned into
Wickham Streele, and then into Bris
bane's main thoroughfare, Quocn
street. , ;
There every shop window, nearly
every roof, and every inch of stand
ing room 'held people all Imbued with
the one .thought to welcome their
heroine ns they had welcomed no-
uuuy iiciuic.
And 'so into George Street, around
Ann Street to the front of the Town
Hall, ; " '
Then into the great City Hall.
Men and Svomen-fought for admis
sion. .She briefly .thanked those who
had welcomed tier— the Governor (Sir
John Goodwin), »Mr J. ,G. Bayley,
M.H.R., representing the Common
wealth Government; the Premier (Mr
Moore) and the Lord Mayor (Alder-i
man Jolly). \
Then out into the crowds again, and
another drive of triumph to Govern
ment House.
She rested this afternoon. Tonight
she will attend the reception in the
Town Hnll arranged by the National
Council of Women.
She will be up at 6 a.m. tomorrow
to broadcast a speech to London.
