The floral carpet, in which thousands
of natural blooms will bo woven into an
intricate design, will bo on display on
Thursday at tho Alfred Hall.
The historical pageant will open at
the Showgrounds next Saturday, and tho
exhibition of the floral carpet will close
that day.
Blue-shirted diggers and red-coated
soldiers of tho days before and after
the Eureka Stockade, will be seen In im
pressive tableaus of early Ballarat. The
special centenary mail, carried by a
Cobb nnd Co. coach, will arrive at the
Showgrounds during tho afternoon. Re
lays of horses have been arranged along
the road from Melbourne for the jour
ney of three days, '
There will be a civic service at St.
Peter's Church at 11 a.m. on March 13,
nnd other special services will be hold
on tho same day in other churches. The
Centenary ten that evening will embrace
50,000 people listening in their homes to
messages of goodwill to be broadcast at
5.30 p.m.
Tile celebrations will continue till
April 18, but annual social and sport
ing events on a bigger scale in keeping
with the Centenary festivities, and in
cluding' homecomings and re-unions of
former residents, are listed until
November.
