DISTINCTIVE DOLLS
TO aid the Mayor of Caulfield's
, . Patriotic Fund (Elsternwick
Division) an exhibition of Miss Vera
Schneider's Art Dolls and other
novelties at 126 Glenhuntly Road.
Elsternwick (by courtesy of Messrs
Brook Tozer) was opened this after
noon by Mrs T. W. White.
Open for a fortnight, the exhibi
tion comprises art dolls ranging
from those for the boudoir to beauti-
lully dressed ones for children. Miss
Schneider has given one valued at
£6/6/ to be raffled for the fund and
the Mayor of Caulfield will officiate
at the drawing on Friday week.
The Mayoress of Caulfield (Mrs T.
W. Morris), with Mrs White, was
welcomed today by the president of
the women's committee (Mrs J. T.
Packer).
Orphans Will Benefit
THE committee of the Good Shep-
herd Convent Orphanage, Abbots-
ford, Is making Its annual appeal for
funds In connection with the Wattle
Day appeal, and will hold a card
afternoon in Myer's Grill-room to
morrow at 2.30 p.m. The honorary
organisers are Mesdames Prahl and
Corrldon, and the honorary secretary
is Miss Rainsford. Mrs J. E. Carroil
is president. The institution cares
for more than 230 children.
Picture Night: Luncheon
TO aid the 2/2nd Field Artillery
Regiment Comforts Fund, a pic
ture night will be held on September
18. Tickets for any of Hoyts Subur
ban Theatres that evening may be
obtained from Mrs w. Goble,
Barkly Street, St. Kllda.
A luncheon to aid ' the fund will
be held at the Legacy Club, Market
Street, on September 19. Light re
freshments will be served from noon
till 2 p.m. and the public are Invited.
