ther Interest was added to tho result
of the Queensland elections today,
when Mr J'atorHon, tho Country-Nu-
tlonul candidate, overhauled Mr Stop-
ford, the Home Secretary, In tho race
for tho Mount Morgnn seat.
i.nAt night Mr Stopford was eight
votes ahead of his opponont. When 10
outstanding votes wore counted today,
only live went to him, while Mr Pat
erson secured 14.
Mr Paterson now lias a lead of one
vote, and In the counting of 400
absentee and postal votes tomorrow,
is expected to Improve his position.
Messrs K. J. Hanson and L. P. Bar-
ber, tho retiring Labor members for
BurjinUn and Uundaberg respec
tively. now seem to be fairly certain
of re-elect on. Tho latter Is 80 ahead
of Mr A. J. Chrlstenaen. and the for
mer lends Mr H.NQuInn by 175. The
few outstanding votes to come are
not, likely to change tho positions.
n Itiowor, Mr F A. Coopor, the
Labor retiring member, has 118 votes
to the good over Mr W. T. Mitchell.
Mr M. J, klnvan. the Minister of
Works, Jr now six votes behind Mr
Thatcher In Rrlslmno.
