Initiate discussions with the
Anglo-Persian Oil Co. to obtain
greater nroflts for Persia
The Premier, reporting to Par
liament on Persia's relations with
Russia, recalled Persia's difficult
political situation when he went
to Moscow for "terms" before the:
oil agreement of April, 1046.
The Premier said that the
Russians, in 1046, hinted at a
wish to barter oil -in exchange
for evacuation of their troons,
but they later changed the offer
to a demand for joint exploita
tion of the oilfields. He refused
to consider that proposition.
Soviet pressure became more in
sistent, and he finally accepted a
proposal to create a joint Russo-
Perstnn oil company, subject to
Parliament's consent.
