Rains Not
| According
To Inigo
Victoria's soaking rains
at the week-end (see page
1) are not right, according ,
to the forecast bv Queens-
land metcoroligst Mr
Inigo Jones.
On September 11 he said there
should be a general deficiency
of rain in Victoria until Feb
ruary, or later.
The Chief Scientific Officer
of the Commonwealth Weather
Bureau (Mr J. C. Foley) read
out Mr Jones's forecast today,
and said, "Draw your own con-,
elusions."
USES ASTRONOMY j
Mr Foley said that, accord-,
ing to Mr Jones's forecast, there
was promise that in October,
and Dcmember, weather might!
be better. Mr Jones's first
prediction was based on a main
planetary cycle of 71 years,
and the second on a uranian
cycle of 84 years.
Mr Jones said ' in Brisbane
last night that broadly speak
ing droughts were caused by
i planets interfering with the
streams of cosmic rays and
other magnetic matter which
supply the sun with energy.
| Mr Foley said today that he
didn't want to start an argu-
Iment with Mr Jones. Mr
I Jones used astronomy to pre-j
I diet, weather and the Bureau,
; used meteorology. j
