NO LICENCE FOR
BUFFALO CHALET
Ministry Decides
The State Government does not intend
to comply with the request of the Rail-
ways Commissioners for the issue of a
liquor licence for the Mt. Buffalo Chalet.
The Commissioners in their report,
stated that if a licence were issued the
Chalet could be conducted at a profit
instead of at a loss as at present.
The Cabinet has considered the Com-
missioners' application and decided that
their business was to conduct the rail-
ways and not engage in the sale of
liquor outside railway premises.
There is no provision in the Railways
Act to enable the railways to conduct an
hotel, and it is the intention of the Gov-
ernment to see that the law is carried
out.
If an application is made to the
Licensing Court for the issue of a licence
in respect of the Mt. Buffalo Chalet, it
will be opposed by the Government.
